Founders at the University of Cambridge combines twenty years of university startup expertise with a highly-curated global community of industry leaders, investors, and exited entrepreneurs to make our companies successful.
START is our pre-seed programme, accelerating a cohort of AI and Deeptech startups connected to the University whose ideas and research have the potential to change the world.
After 2 cohorts, our portfolio companies have raised ~£14M in follow on funding, with founders reporting a 3x acceleration impact – three times faster progress than they would achieve without the programme. START 2.0 achieved a perfect NPS of 100, with 100% of founders recommending START to fellow entrepreneurs.
Now we're launching an even more refined START 3.0! We provide capital, mentorship and office space, and work alongside you to develop your technology, market, and team so that you can raise your next investment round and accelerate your path to becoming a commercially-viable venture.

Our core offering:
• £30,000 on acceptance of the programme, with potential follow-on investment after 24 weeks
• No programme fee
• No equity until you raise from other investors
• 50+ hours intensive mentorship with your handpicked Entrepreneur-in-Residence (EIR)
• Up to 30 hours one-on-one specialist business support from Operators-In-Residence (OIR)
• Dedicated support from 50+ additional mentors, partners and investors
• Access to Cambridge Enterprise Ventures’ 100+ list of co-investors, with curated intros where appropriate
• Curated intros to and guidance from our network of San Francisco-based mentors and investors
• Dedicated IP support from experienced technology transfer experts
• Free office space at ideaSpace West for 6 months, plus discounted space for an additional 3 months
• Access to 300+ world class experts from the Founders at the University of Cambridge Community
• Extensive support to successfully pitch at our virtual US and London Investor days
